Strawberry Christmas Lights

I love a good no-bake recipe around the Holidays when the season starts to get extra crazy! These Strawberry Christmas Lights are the perfect recipe to accompany your dessert spread this Holiday season. I dipped each of these strawberries in colorful candy melts, then dusted on a little bit of granulated sugar to give it some texture and detail. We top these Christmas treats off with a mini Reese’s cup and are left with the easiest, most delicious, and eye-catching Christmas dessert ever! I hope that you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!

How To Make Strawberry Christmas Lights

Because this is a no-bake recipe, it’s certainly an easier recipe to add to your Christmas baking arsenal. Let’s break it down!

  • Prep
  • wash + dry strawberries super well (any moisture ruins the candy coating)
  • Pull off the leaves
  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment
  • Melt the colors
  • Divide candy melts into separate bowls
  • melt one color at a time → 30-sec intervals, mixing between
  • if too thick, stir in a tablespoon of coconut or vegetable oil
  • get everything smooth + drizzle-y

  • Dip the strawberries
  • poke a skewer into the top
  • dip into candy melts until fully coated
  • let excess drip off
  • Sprinkle with sugar for that glittery “light bulb” look
  • place on parchment to set
  • Repeat for all strawberries
  • Chill
  • Place the tray in the fridge for 10–15 mins so the coating sets fully
  • Add the “light base”
  • melt semi-sweet chocolate in 30-second intervals
  • Pipe a tiny dollop on top of each strawberry
  • Press a mini Reese’s cup on top to create the “bulb base.”
  • Let the chocolate harden so everything sticks
  • Done!
  • serve, snack, decorate your dessert board—so cute!

Recipe Tips

  • Dry your strawberries completely. Even one drop of water makes the candy melts seize.
  • Room-temp strawberries work best. Cold strawberries cause the coating to crack.
  • Don’t skip the sugar dusting. It creates that perfect vintage-bulb shimmer.
  • Use fresh strawberries. Soft or bruised berries won’t hold the coating well.
  • Set on parchment, not foil. Foil sticks and ruins the smooth finish.

Working With Candy Melts

  • Heat gently. 30-second bursts keep them smooth—not burned or clumpy.
  • Add oil to thin. A tablespoon of coconut or vegetable oil gets the perfect dipping texture.
  • Stir more than you think. Candy melts continue melting from residual heat.
  • If they harden mid-process, re-melt in 10-15 second bursts.
  • Keep the bowls warm. A warm towel under the bowls helps maintain consistency.

Recipe Variations

  • Pastel Christmas Lights – use pastel melts for a softer, cozy aesthetic
  • Glitter bulbs – add edible glitter instead of granulated sugar
  • White chocolate base – swap semi-sweet chocolate for white or gold melts
  • Spicy lights – add a tiny pinch of cinnamon to the sugar
  • Peppermint twist – sprinkle crushed candy cane instead of sugar

Ingredients

  • 1 16 oz. container of strawberries

  • 1/2 cup red candy melts

  • 1/2 cup blue candy melts

  • 1/2 cup yellow candy melts

  • 1/2 cup green candy melts

  • 3 Tbsp. granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate

  • 15-20 mini reeses cups

Directions

  • Start by washing and drying your strawberries COMPLETELY. Pluck the leaves off the strawberries. Prepare a cookie sheet fitted with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • Divide your colored candy melts into separate bowls. Melt each color one at a time in 30-second intervals. Mix between each interval. Depending on the brand of candy melts you’re using, you may need to thin them out a little. To do this, add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil or vegetable oil to each color.
  • Once your candy melts are all nice, melted, and smooth, one strawberry at a time, poke a wooden skewer in the top of a strawberry, then dip the strawberry into the candy melts, coating it completely.
  • Allow the excess candy melts to drip back into the bowl, then lightly dust the coated strawberry with granulated sugar. Place the strawberry onto the prepared cookie sheet. Repeat these steps for each strawberry until they are all coated.
  • Allow the candy melts to set in the fridge completely. This should take about 10-15 minutes.
  • Once the candy melts have set on the strawberries, melt the semi-sweet chocolate in 30-second intervals until completely melted. Transfer to a piping bag.
  • One strawberry at a time, pipe a small dollop of chocolate on the top of the strawberry, then stick a mini Reese’s cup on top. Repeat for each one. Let the chocolate harden between the strawberry and the Reese’s cup so that they stick nicely.
  • Enjoy!
