How To Make Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bites

This delicious no-bake Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bites recipe is so much easier to make than you think! Please adjust the recipe to your liking like using different kinds of chocolate and toppings!

  • Prep your pretzels – Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place square pretzel snaps in a single layer.
  • Soften the caramel – Place a caramel square on each pretzel, then warm in the oven at 350°F until soft and puffed.
  • Top with pecans – Gently press a pecan half onto the melted caramel. Feel free to use any kind of nut that
  • Coat in chocolate – Melt chocolate and coconut oil together until smooth. Dip each pretzel bite into the chocolate, letting the excess drip off.
  • Finish with sea salt – Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top for that perfect sweet-salty balance.
  • Let set and enjoy – Allow chocolate to firm up at room temperature or in the fridge before serving.

Recipe Tips

  • Don’t overbake the caramel – Just 5–8 minutes is enough to soften it. Any longer and it may harden instead of staying chewy.
  • Use good-quality chocolate – Semi-sweet works perfectly, but dark chocolate adds richness if you prefer. I’m a big fan of Ghirardelli! Nestle works great too
  • Work quickly – Add pecans right after the caramel comes out of the oven, while it’s still soft.
  • Add toppings – Sea salt, crushed peppermint, or even a drizzle of white chocolate make these extra fun.

No-Bake Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bites Recipe

These bites are almost no-bake, since the caramel squares need a few minutes in the oven to soften. If you want a completely no-bake version, you can:

  • Use soft caramel candies or caramel sauce instead of baking caramel squares.
  • Melt the caramel gently in the microwave, spoon it over the pretzels, then press the pecans on top before dipping in chocolate.

Recipe Variations

There are so many ways to customize these homemade pretzel candies:

  • Nut-free version – Swap pecans for M&M’s, Rolos, or a chocolate kiss.
  • Holiday version – Add red and green sprinkles, crushed peppermint, or festive candy melts.
  • Different chocolate – Try milk chocolate for a sweeter bite, or white chocolate for a fun twist.
  • Extra caramel layer – Double up the caramel squares for an even gooier treat.

How to Store Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bites

  • Room Temperature: Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
  • Refrigerator: Keep chilled for up to 2 weeks. The caramel will be slightly firmer but still tasty.
  • Freezer: Freeze in a sealed container for up to 2 months. Let thaw at room temperature before serving.

How to Make Pretzel Candy

Making homemade pretzel candy is one of the easiest homemade treats you can make. All you need are three components (but always feel free to add more goodies!)

  • Crunchy pretzels for texture and saltiness.
  • A filling – usually caramel, peanut butter, or chocolate.
  • A coating – melted chocolate or candy melts.

Ingredients

  • 35 square pretzel snaps

  • 35 caramel squares (I use Kraft)

  • 35 pecan halves

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate

  • 1 Tbsp. coconut oil

  • flaky sea salt for topping (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place your pretzels onto the prepared cookie sheet and top each one with a caramel square.
  • Place these in the oven and bake for 5-8 minutes or until the caramel has puffed up and has become soft.
  • Place a pecan half on top of each caramel square. Let these sit for a few minutes while you melt the chocolate and coconut oil.
  • Melt the chocolate and coconut oil in the microwave in 30-second intervals, mixing between each time until nice and smooth.
  • One at a time, dip each pretzel in the melted chocolate. Use a fork to scoop and tap against the side of the bowl to allow the excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl. Place the pretzels back onto the cookie sheet fitted with parchment paper. Repeat for each pretzel.
  • While the chocolate is still wet, top each one with flaky sea salt.
  • Let the chocolate set either in the fridge and enjoy!
